More than just being a high performance sports car the 2009 Ford Mustang Coupe is an appealing combination of power and elegance. Ford has succeeded in blending the classic exterior styling of the 1960s with a highly futuristic interior and an array of technological features.

Exterior Styling

It is evident from several 2009 Ford Mustang reviews that experts agree on the styling of the pony car. While the 2009 Ford Mustang coupe exudes coolness in exterior styling the 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby versions are more aggressive typical of a muscle car. Ford offers plenty of styling options for both Mustang coupe and convertibles available in four trims – V6 Deluxe, V6 Premium, GT Deluxe and GT Premium. The Ford Mustang convertibles feature a power vinyl top.

The Mustang Shelby editions are more robust now with a fortified chassis. The front sway bar’s diameter of the 2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe and convertibles is reduced increasing spring stiffness to allow quicker turn-in on the outward tire.

Interior Comfort

Both the 2009 Ford Mustang coupe and convertible can accommodate four people along with enough storage at the rear cargo. Even though its charcoal black leather seating and aluminum dashboard looks sophisticated the appeal is reduced by excessive use of hard plastic inside the car. The same is applicable for the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 coupe and convertibles except the bold red seams and side bolstering on the seats.

The comfort features in Ford Mustang V6 Deluxe includes keyless access, cruise control, air-conditioning, full power accessories, a CD player with an additional audio port. The V6 Premium comes with a power driver seat, a Shaker 500 stereo with six-CD changer.

As for Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 convertible and coupe, Deluxe trims feature 18-inch alloy wheels, a front air splitter, a rear spoiler, fog-lamps, cruise control, navigation system, heat extractors, air-conditioning and power driver seat while the Premium edition comes with an additional sport bucket seats with Cobra logos and a Shaker 500 stereo with CD-changer and satellite radio.

Power and Performance

All versions of Ford Mustang are rear-wheel-drive. The 2009 Ford Mustang is equipped with a standard five-speed manual transmission with five-speed automatic as an option. The pony car uses a 4.0L 210Hp V6 producing 240lb-ft of torque.

On the other hand, the 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is powered by a 4.6L 300Hp V8 that produces the required thrust to acquire 0 to 60mph in 5.7 seconds. But for Mustang Shelby GT500 a Tremec six-speed manual transmission is the only choice. The Ford muscle cars have 19mpg and 18mpg combined fuel economy respectively.

Safety Features

The 2009 Ford Mustang has four-wheel disc brakes and front-seat side airbags as standard safety features with optional ABS and traction control. The Shelby GT500 features Brembo brakes with ABS and traction control as standard.

Despite absence of electronic stability control all Ford Mustang models have passed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash tests with five stars for front and side impact protection for front seat passenger. The 2009 Ford Mustang Convertible achieved a five star rating in rear side protection as well.

From the 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby reviews one point is clear that competitors like the BMW 128i, Nissan 350Z and Mazda RX-8 are ahead of Ford Mustang in interior styling and handling. This year in 2009, Mustang’s competitors’ line up adds a new contender – the Dodge Challenger available with V6 and V8 powertrains. Nevertheless, somewhere down the line the retro-futuristic design and reasonable pricing lend an extra edge to the 2009 Ford Mustang against their old rivals, the 2010 Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebirds.

hurry, it’s time to get out of the box, and create – 5 minutes and a screwdriver. Soak amazing, I can not believe how much dirt and dust from the first 10 seconds. Yes, pull the carpet, especially when working in corners. It’s a bit difficult and takes a little effort to move me, this is the hardest I ever buy. My wood floors and carpet in the room, and I will whip the dust a wooden floor – almost no dust manifest. I will not, under the couch without attachments – too thick, in front of the organization. But, as the price, and quick to clean. 
I have not tried the attachment.

Bissell PROlite Multi-Cyclonic Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 17G5

Vacuum performs well, accessories are so-so

This vacuum generally works well, especially on pile carpeting. I like the ability to turn off the beater brush, the easy removal/emptying of the dirt canister, and the cleaning quality (suction). The air filtration seems to work well too. 

However, I’m used to using a canister-style vacuum, and I found the accessory attachments to be flimsy and hard to use. In particular, the articulated tube for cleaning under furniture is wobbly and falls off while in use. I know that one can’t expect a vacuum in this price range to have canister-quality attachments, but I was pretty disappointed with this one. The rest of the attachments were average and are stowed in a cloth storage bag (no on-board storage) 

If I were rating this machine separate from the attachments, I would not hesitate to give it 4 stars. Taken together, I give it 3 stars. If you are looking for a good upright vacuum and will be using the attachments minimally, I would recommend this as a decent choice.

“Automatic Height Adjuster” is a joke

I got a Prolite last week. It did fine on my hardwood floors, but when I tried to vacuum my oriental rug, there was no “automatic height adjustment”. The suction power was so strong that I had to turn off the vacuum in order to free the carpet from it’s grip. I notified Bissell, and they agreed that there is a performance issue with the Prolites. They’re sending me a replacement part that is supposed to correct the problem. It’s a shame that these vacuums are being sold when there are problems associated with it “right out of the shoot”. The Prolite does a great job of cleaning carpets and rugs, but it’s exhausting to use. I’ll update this review after the replacement part is installed

great suction, rather heavy

came quickly, time to take out of the box and set up – 5 minutes with one screw driver. Suction is amazing, I can’t believe how much dirt and dust it got in first 10 seconds. Yes it pulls on your carpet especially when you are working at the edges. It is a bit heavy and takes a bit of effort for me to move it around, so that is the heaviest I will ever buy. I have hardwood floor and carpet in bedroom, and I followed with dust whiper on hardwood floor — almost no dust to speak off. I will not get under your couch without attachments – too thick front body. Still, I like it for the price and quick clean up. 
Have not tried the attachments yet.

CheapestBissell PROlite Multi-Cyclonic Upright Vacuum, Bagless, 17G5

Bought a Bissell a couple years ago. Worked ok, but due to lousy engineering, broke after 2 years. While i was waiting for the part to show up (fixed myself), we bought this one. At first, seemed like a good idea…separate motors instead of belt disengagement, light weight and best feature of all…a 5 year warranty. But, it’s engineered very poorly. It doesnt work on berber….you have to force it to move, and it bounces all over. Today, after 3 months of use, the release lever broke. It wont lock upright. Took it into the bissell authorized repair center, and when I told him it was a piece of junk, he said…”of course it is, it’s a bissell”. He had lots of stories. Wont ever buy another bissell product again. DESIGNED AND BUILT IN CHINA. Well, at least is has a good warranty. The service centers will be seeing alot of me in the next 5 years.

Update – Great suction; maybe too much

This will be a short review because we are waiting for a response from Bissell on the problem described below. The vacuum was easy to put together and all went well until we tried to use it on our oriental rugs (machine made). The suction is so great that the vacuum sticks to the rug like a suction cup and requires a lot of force to break it free. If you look carefully at the video review, the reviewer has the same problem initially (it actually moves the rug until he breaks it free). 

We were very surprised that nobody else mentioned this problem on any of the reviews because of the four oriental rugs that we have the vacuum sticks to three of them and the suction is so great that we have to tilt the unit to one side, raise the handle to upright or push very hard to break the suction. As soon as we start to vacuum again the suction grabs the carpet and won’t let go. This is the one time that we wish the unit did not have automatic height adjustment. 

We called Bissell customer service and it is obvious that they are aware of the issue because they are sending us a “bottom plate” to attach to the bottom of the vacuum to “solve this problem.” We are hoping that the bottom plate fixes the problem because we like the other features of the vacuum. We’ll return to this review when we receive something from Bissell. If the problem is solved the rating will improve if not the vacuum will go back. 

Update 4-29-10 
Bissell shipped a replacement “Sole Plate Assembly” for the 17G5 (part # 2032099) and the replacement solved the problem. They beveled out four areas, each about one inch long and one eighth of an inch deep into the trailing edge of the sole plate assembly. The result – no more sticking to our oriental rugs. If you have a problem with the vacuum sticking call Bissell customer service to get the sole plate assembly. 

We have now upgraded the review from a three star to a five star. The only issues that we still have with the vacuum are minor and are pretty much mentioned in several of the other reviews (tool storage and tool connection only fair). Overall we really like this vacuum.
